Four Questions
The EVAS gratefully acknowledges the encouragement and public support we receive. You can help us be even more affected by considering:
1. Would we be able to find you?
- It’s no secret that many area residents live in some isolated, potentially hard to find, locations.
- If you think we’d have trouble finding you, even with detailed maps and GPS directions, consider:
- Is your road name marked by a sign we could
find and recognize? - Is your property identified by a posted house or building number?
- Is your road name marked by a sign we could
- Many of your neighbors have contacted the EVAS office and provided directions to their property and confirmed that we’d be able to find them quickly, should the need arise.
- Is this something you might consider?
2. What medical history should an EMT know about?
-
If an ambulance was called to your property, what medical history would an EMT benefit from knowing about you or any member of your household?
-
Access to that information can greatly enhance the EMT’s ability to property treat your emergency.
-
Many area residents keep a written record of critical information readily available to give to a responding EMT or posted prominently.
Critical Information To Have On Hand
- Full Name, Date of Birth, Age
- Physical and Mailing Address
- Phone Number
- Social Security Number
- Emergency Contact – with phone number
- List of Medications
- Allergies, if any
- POLST (Provider Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment), if any
Note: A signed copy of this POLST must available to travel with a patient
3. Are there volunteer opportunities at the EVAS?
-
There are always activities and informational campaigns in the mix at the EVAS. Volunteers are always welcomed to ensure success of these programs.
-
Contact the EVAS office and let us know your name and contact information. When a need arises, it is always gratifying to have people willing to lend a hand.
4. What CPR or similar training is available?
- The EVAS is continually scheduling CPR training classes to interested groups to equip our citizens with these vital life saving capabilities.
- Be alert for such programs coming to your area or feel free to organize a group who would want to schedule such training.
- A nominal per person fee covers the cost of materials, supplies, training aids and handouts.
- • Want to get involved beyond CPR capabilities? Know that the EVAS is always open to people interested in becoming EMTs. Visit the “Consider Joining Us” link of this site for more information.
